GA at UN: Universal Health Coverage

September 24, 2019

The Global Alliance for Behavioral Health and Social Justice applauds Secretary Azar (U.S. Health and Human Services) for recognizing—during a presentation at today’s UN High Level Meeting on Universal Health Care—that access to primary care is critical (part of universal health care) and that primary care must be integrated into and with behavioral health services, including the use of community health workers.

As stressed in the Global Alliance’s statement submitted during the UN HLM – UHC Interactive Hearing, the integrative and accessible programs and services must include resources for trained, supported (including supervision), and resourced behavioral health providers in the overall planning for human resources for health.
